LARRY ZAP

Tracks/Circuits: Gulfstream Park

Larry Zap is "The Eye" and co-host of Felix Taverna's Race and Sports Radio program on XX Sports Radio 1090 AM San Diego. An equine talent scout who scours the 2-year-olds in training sales on both coasts, Zap has purchased horses for top SoCal conditioners Doug O'Neill, Peter Eurton and others.

After seeing Secretariat win the Belmont like a tremendous machine, Larry has been on a serious mission to figure out what makes Thoroughbreds great. His unique analysis of measuring quality in racehorses that he uses to buy young Thoroughbreds at the sales for his clients also is applicable in selecting winners. Unlike most speed-figure guys, Larry applies a visual index from watching an extensive amount of tapes that translates to finding live value horses that don't measure up on raw figs.

He resides in Arcadia, Cal. and travels the country looking to buy the next great equine athlete.
Zap brings
a unique, two-pronged perspective to the Winner's Card, Gulfstream Park Edition with a long history of watching many of the South Florida runners and a scout's-eye perspective that makes his weekly Horses to Watch list every bit as important as his daily, race-by-race analysis within the product.

Listen live to Larry Zap and Felix Taverna every Saturday on Race and Sports radio between noon and 1 p.m. eastern,
here.
